Nature Walks and Workshops
During Wanda McGee’s unconventional nature walks, each person’s life experience is honored. Instead of learning facts about animals, plants and minerals, individuals are encouraged to learn about themselves. As one participant wrote, the walk “offered a unique opportunity to relate the natural world around us to daily living.” More about this walker's experience
The technique used on the walk is simple. The result is altered perceptions and new life metaphors that connect us more deeply to our roots. Examples of the types of issues participants have found useful are contained in Wanda's book: Invisible Currents—Nature's Lessons for the Mind and Heart.
If you'd like to try your hand at conducting a nature walk for your organization, there's a free agenda at For Facilitators. A nature walk can also be part of a workshop agenda for a wide variety of audiences, such as writers, artists, and facilitators.
