Pima Air and Space Museum
If you're visiting Tucson, AZ, a trip to the Pima Air and Space Museum is highly recommended. Allow more time than you think you'll need. We wandered through four exhibition hangers and took a tram tour that visited close to 200 aircraft exhibited outside. Also on the grounds is the Space Gallery and the 390th Memorial Museum. The Memorial Museum contains the history, and volunteers tell the story, of the 390th Bomb Group during WWII. The entire museum, third largest air and space museum in the U.S., is a tribute to the dedication of its volunteers. They are the heart of the museum: welcoming visitors, driving trams, docenting hangers, sharing history, maintaining aircraft. We left wondering, with the passage of time, who will carry on the work of these volunteers.
