Four Seaons of the Hot Springs
During a visit to Hot Springs State Park, Thermopolis, WY, I ran across a beautiful book by Jeb Schenck, a local photographer, author, and educator. Four Seasons of the Hot Springs is a photographed record of the Hot Springs area throughout the year. Some of the most stunning photos, taken during the winter, show the icy results of freezing temperatures at the hot springs.
At left is Teepee Fountain which began in the early 1900s when a pipe was sunk so that hot mineral water flowed from its top. Over the years, the mineral deposits accumulated forming a huge block of travertine.
