Floating Rocks II

 A clear, unseasonably warm afternoon follows an extended period of bitter cold. Ice layers the C&O Canal, its thickness uncertain. Near the towpath, rocks of many shapes and sizes dot the ice, apparently thrown by passers-by to test the ice's strength. The sunshine of the last few days has warmed the rocks until they sit in pools of blue water on the hard, white canal—floating apparitions. Seemingly defying gravity, they are supported by a hidden structure.

Organizational

• What is the most supportive thing you have done for yourself today? For your organization?
• How have you experienced caring and support in your organization? What was the effect?
• What might you do to make your organization a more supportive place?

Personal

• What is the most loving thing you have done for yourself today? For someone else? What is the most loving thing someone else has done for you in the last week?
• How would you describe your "unseen support systems"? Are they temporary or permanent?
• Ideally, what would your life be like if you freely used these systems as a way to give love and caring to others and to receive it yourself?
• How could you move closer to this ideal?  

 The above event is what I call the tipping point for my decision to write a book about my 23-year association with the C&O Canal.
